About

The Tennessee Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (TACES) is the division of the Tennessee Counseling Association that represents counselor educators and supervisors in the state of Tennessee and is the state chapter of the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES).

Our Purpose

The purpose of TACES is to foster the development and improvement of counselor education and supervision in the state of Tennessee; and to provide an organization through which those engaged in these services can exchange ideas, seek solutions to common problems, stimulate their professional growth, and establish and improve standards of professional services.

Welcome to TACES!

I am glad you stopped by to take a look at our webpage. Here you can meet our officers, committee members, and some of Tennessee’s most outstanding counselor educators and supervisors. While you are browsing our website, ask yourself this question: How can I positively influence counselor education, supervision, and counseling service in the state of Tennessee?

The Tennessee Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (TACES) was established as a state branch of the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES) which is a division of the American Counseling Association (ACA). ACES is divided into five regions, and Tennessee is one of 14 states that comprise the largest of these regions — the Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (SACES). We are also a division of the Tennessee Counseling Association (TCA). These divisions offer many opportunities to network and exchange ideas.

TACES membership is open to those who are interested in improving the counseling profession and enhancing the skills of developing counselors. Certainly, if you are a Tennessee counselor educator of counseling supervisor, your engagement with TACES will create a network for shared ideas, collaborative work, and ongoing professional growth. For students who are considering a profession in counselor education or who plan to supervise others in the future, TACES is the place for you! This is where you will meet Tennessee’s exemplary professionals, establish a state-wide professional network, and have access to ongoing professional mentorship. Retired professionals, we still need you! You are the seasoned gurus who remind us of the progress this profession has made, encourage us to continue to move forward, and contribute the priceless knowledge that only a lifetime of professional experience can acquire. TACES wants and needs your wisdom.

So, how can you positively influence this profession? Get involved! Contributing to the advancement of the counselor education, supervision, and counseling profession can take many forms. You can contribute by:

  • Maintaining your membership
  • Mentoring others through professional affiliation with TACES
  • Becoming a leader through board or committee participation
  • Promoting/Supporting research by being a judge for the annual Graduate Student Poster Presentation event
  • Presenting/Coordinating the TACES annual pre-conference training session
  • Offering expert editorial review skills for the TCA journal

Regardless of how you choose to make a difference, you can have a positive influence right here in Tennessee — right here in TACES. Get involved today!

Best wishes to you always,

Tiffany Wilson
